I am so excited to share what I’ve been reading and meeting my reading goal for 2021. My reading goal was 20 books in 2021 and Kindle has declared my goal “met”. Actually, I snuck in two nondigital books, so my current count is 22!

Reading has been a delight for me since I was 6 years old. Holding a book in my hands and escaping to different worlds with grand adventures has been a consistent hobby over the years. Now that I can download books to my IPAD, my access to read has expanded.

What I’ve Been Reading

The book I just completed is Indestructible – Fight Your Spiritual Battles From the Winning Side” by Blake K. Healy. This is the third book that I have read by this author. There are two books that precede this one “The Veil” and “Profound Good“. While each book stands alone, I would recommend reading the first two so that you have the proper context for Indestructible.

Mr. Healy has an amazing gift of being able to see into the spiritual realm around us. Over the years, with the help of mentors and the Holy Spirit, he has learned how to interpret what he sees (both angels and demons) for the benefit, encouragement and healing of individuals.

This last book is about fighting spiritual battles and Mr. Healy shifts his focus to share how we can fight and win those battles. The main premise is that as believers of Jesus Christ, we are filled with His light and light always overcomes darkness.

The overview is time spent with God in prayer, reading/meditating on the Word, and being in community are the foundations for winning against the enemy.

This book is very detailed but easy to read. The experiences of this man are so amazing that I often found it hard to put down. If you are interested in this topic then I highly recommend this book. You will not be disappointed.

Why Read

In my younger days, fiction was my reading preference. Currently, I read books to learn. I discovered that there are endless opportunities to learn new things through books. I have tackled everything from quantum physics to computer tech stuff. Have I mastered these things, well no, but I definitely know more than I did before! LOL

Reading has allowed me to discover and learn things to which I would otherwise have no access. I certainly hope it has improved my vocabulary and writing skills as well! You guys will be the judge of that!

These days my reading focus is on spiritual gifts, developing leadership skills, writing, and becoming my best self. As an empty nester, I have plenty of time to read. I have not, however, forgotten the days with small children and sitting down to read being a luxury.

Many books have been read in car lines, waiting rooms, parking lots and perhaps hiding in the closet for a little moment of peace! If you want it enough, you will find a way!

Final Thoughts

If you are reading my blog then I assume you love reading as well. While I do love setting a reading goal for myself, the real achievement is in doing something that benefits your mind and soul. That is always time well spent.

My reading goal for 2022 is yet to be determined. Of course, I will challenge myself to read more books, but my ultimate goal is to learn and grow as an individual and keep my mind as sharp as it can be!

Best Wishes and Keep Reading Everyone!
